Here are two pictures of the base, one after the rust has been removed, and an oil bath put on, and another after the final layer of paint has been added to the base, and the broken piece of the base.  The base was a lot easier to wirebrush because it had a lot more flat surface than the flywheels.  Either way it was a long process, but now the engine can begin to come together.
